Toyota V8 Alternator Soarer etc
I chose to shop with Autopartsmate on eBay because they had stock of this item, it was closest to me, they offered a
5 year warranty on the part and of course because I couldn't buy it over-the-counter in Hobart. I had been told 5-7 days and prices as much as twice what I paid here!
The buying experience was very smooth, and had I paid by PayPal (I prefer to be fair to the seller and use DD if offered, which it is) I would have had the alternator in less than 24 hours! This is of course OUTSTANDING SERVICE and I will happily use Autopartsmate again.
The alternator itself went in easily with no dramas. Of course it needed a round-oblong adaptor cable, but this was
easy to get. I do not rate it as "Very Good" though, merely "Good" because while it works well, it has very noisy bearlings, close to making the car sound like it has a turbocharger. I did not strike the shaft, bend it etc, and the drive belt is of the spring-loaded self tensioning type, so it must be a manufacturing fault. I've done less than 1000kms since installation, so maybe it will "run in" and fix itself. I certainly hope so. Changing the alternator in a Soarer is not the easiest of jobs.
